Participating Ensembles
Osaka International
Chamber Music Competition

Held every three years in Osaka, the competition seeks to discover exceptional chamber ensembles from around the world, celebrate outstanding performances, and nurture new talent. Operated in accordance with the standards of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC), the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition has become a globally recognized platform for young musicians to launch their careers.

Prizes for both sections
1st Prize: 2,500,000 yen
2nd Prize: 1,200,000 yen
3rd Prize: 800,000 yen
The first-prize winners of each section will be invited to perform in a concert tour (called Grand-Prix Concerts). They will give about ten concerts to be held across Japan. -
Special Awards
In collaboration with renowned chamber music competitions and festivals worldwide, we also provide performance opportunities as special awards that open doors to the next stage of career development after participating the competition.

*Award-winning ensembles will receive financial support for a part of their travel fee when they join the festival of program of Special Award. The support will be financed from the generous donation by MK Memorial. -
Commissioned Work
Highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally, Mr. Kenji Sakai has composed String Quartet No.2 “Floating Perticles”as the required work for Section Ⅰ, 3rd round.

Osaka International
Chamber Music Festa

The Osaka International Chamber Music Festa, which takes place alongside the competition, is open to ensembles of two to six players, with any combination of instruments and no age limitation. In addition to classical music, the Festa also welcomes traditional and folk music from around the world. This Festa is unique because its voting process is done by a crowd of music lovers.

Menuhin Gold Prize: 1,000,000 yen
Finalist Prize (Supported by Ono Foundation. 3 ensembles): 300,000 yenThe Menuhin Gold prize winner will be invited to perform in a concert tour (called Grand-Prix Concerts). They will give about ten concerts to be held across Japan.

Special Awards
The following awards will be sent to the ensembles at the Semifinal Round by judging of the Special Jury. No ensemble might receive a special award if there is no eligible one.

● String Ensemble Special Award : 100,000 yen
● Percussion Ensemble Special Award : 100,000 yen
● Wind Ensemble Special Award : 100,000 yen
